Kindergarten Chirstmas Program

Nate's Kindergarten Christmas Program was yesterday morning. And what FUN that was!!!! We took 65 pictures just trying to capture all of Nate's facial expressions. One of the other kindergarten teachers told me today, that it was planned to put Nate on the front row to help out with the singing. Let's just say he used his Rasband voice, and there was no way you couldn't hear him! He used his all to sing!! In one of the songs they sang about the nativity, and Nate was picked to be one of the wise men.Hope you enjoy the pics!"OHHHH, I'm the loveliest Christmas tree! Ho, Ho, Ho, He, He, He"Singing with his ALL and MORE!

Nate's 6th Birthday

On December 9th Nate had his 6th birthday! Can I believe it's been 6 years allready? NO! It's gone by way too fast! We were sick the day before so we took it easy. But we still opened presents, ate cake, and played train. It sure was a fun day to just spend together! Happy Birthday Nate!!!!! (This is my 1st attempt at a slideshow - here's crossing my fingers that it works)

Abby Girl

As a mom I've been feeling guilty. The more kids I have the less the younger ones get. Nate has a whole baby scrapbook filled with pictures, Emma - half a scrapbook filled with pictures, Parker - 4 scrapbooked pages, Abby - NOTHING! And I feel like I haven't taken a picture of her since she was born. It really isn't true, we've taken pictures of all the kids together, but nothing of just her. And she has grown SOOOOO much. I weighed her last week on our scales at home (so I'm not sure how accurate) but she weighed as much as Parker!!! It was time I took some pictures of my not so little girl who is now 7 months old!

From Mullet to Man

So Parker has been in need of a major haircut I just haven't known quite what to do with it. It was a little long in the back, but it had such a cute curl as you can see. His hair was described by Uncle Dustin to be "business in the front, party in the back" We got a good kick out that. But it was time to clean in up a bit. So not knowing how to really fix it, we just took the clippers to it on the shortest guard. So know it's just military style. Here are the before pictures:
And here is the little man now:

Happy Thanksgiving!

We hope you all had a good Thanksgiving! Ours was GREAT! We spent the day at my Grandma Pollock's house. It was a HUGE crowd! Everyone was there except Chet & Jamie's family. We usually are not that lucky to get everyone from the family there together, but we came VERY close this year. We had the usual huge Thanksgiving dinner. Then the kids played with toys, while the adults played games. And Abby was so good to take a nap! The following day TeJay had the day off!! It was wonderful to get to spend some family time with him. Nate insisted that since Thanksgiving was over that we HAD to put up the Christmas Tree. Usually I wait until after his birthday, but he wouldn't let that happen! So Saturday was spent "decking the halls". I think that Nate and Emma think the sooner they decorate, the sooner Christmas will be here. It just means more work for Mom as she tries to keep the curious Mr. Parker out of the ornaments and the train. Allready most of the ornaments have been moved to higher ground just out of reach.

Emma put on the Angel topper for this yearThe finished Beauty!

The real reason (I think) that Nate counldn't wait! THE CHRISTMAS TRAIN!! They have played with it every night since. Chirstmas wouldn't be complete in our house with the train!
WE ARE READY FOR SANTA NOW! Guess I'd better get shopping!

Last Ride of the Season

Over the weekend, TeJay and Nate took their last motorcycle ride of the season. They went to Saint George with TeJay's dad, and they had a lot of fun. They left Saturday afternoon, and came back Sunday night. We told Nate that it would be a really long ride for him, but he insisted that he REALLY wanted to go, and he would be good. And he was!!! On the way to Saint George they only stopped ONCE, and Nate never complained! He said his backside was a little sore though. They saw trains in Milford, and I'm a little surprised that they didn't bring back any train pictures, because Nate LOVES trains. He even has a "Train Scrapbook" that he cuts out pictures of trains that he finds in the newspaper, or anywhere to glue into his scrapbook. TeJay and Nate have helmets with CB radios inside so that they can talk to each other, and both listen to the radio. Along the ride, Nate asked TeJay to turn off the radio so that they could take turns singing their own songs. What a great idea for a road trip.

TeJay's photo class

Last week TeJay finished a photo class he was taking at UVSC. It was really good for him, although we missed him on Tuesday nights. But I love the pictures he can take now! Maybe I can have GREAT pictures of my kids without going to Kiddie Kandids. I wanted to share some of the pictures that he took for his class, because I think they are awsome! WAY TO GO SWEETHEART!

Halloween

Ok, so it's a week later, and I'm FINALLY getting to Halloween pictures. It was a great Halloween for our family. Nate loved doing a parade at school, and having a party.

He's the cute little train engineer in the middle. He came into the room with his arms "chugging" and kept doing it all day, that he wore his costume. Nate loves EVERYTHING about trains.

The yummy & delicious pea pod, Abby

The loveable, huggable teddy bear, Parker

The very polite Princess Emma

The whole gang before Trunk-or-Treat

That night we went "Trunk or Treating" with the ward. I love it because I don't have to answer my door ALL night long, as trick-or-treaters come and go. It's just done all in one stop. Nate and Emma loved trunk-or-treating. As they were getting ready for bed that night I overheard them talking about how they couldn't wait for Halloween to come again next year.

Another good read

Oh my Gosh!!! I finished the third book in the Fitzwilliam Darcy trilogy by Pamela Aidan yesterday. And it HAS to be on my top 5 favorite books! I LOVED IT!!!! But then again I love almost everything about Pride and Prejudice. The first book (An assembly such as this) was good, the 2nd (Duty and desire) isn't worth your time. It has absolutely nothing about Darcy and Elizabeth toghter, and let's face it -that's what I want! And the third (These Three Remain) has all the GOOD stuff! It covers the time period of when Darcy proposes and is rejected all the way to the end. After reading it, now I just want to sit down and watch the whole 5 hour A&E Pride and Prejudice. I guess I better get started.

Pumpkin Carving

Saturday we did our yearly Halloween pumpkin carving. I was way impressed with my kids this year who for the most part drew the pictures for their faces, and they scooped out all the insides by themselves. I also surprised myself and TeJay by actuallyenjoying carving pumpkins. Every year I've left it to him to cut our pumpkins up, but this yearI tried my hand at it and LOVED it!

(from left to right) Emma's, Nate's, and mine and TeJay's (We decided to share this year)

My Antonia

As you might already know I LOVE to read books! I feel a little lost if I don't have a book to read. And as a rule, I always give a book until page 50. If it hasn't caught my interest by that point I give it up! I belong to a neighborhood book club, and last months book was My Antonia by Willa Cather. I guess a lot of people had read it in school, but I hadn't. It wasn't my favorite book, but I liked it so much more listening to my group talk about it (Thanks Mandy) that I had to share it with you, if you're in need of a good book.

I must warn you that it's not this picture perfect book of life, which is why I think that I didn't like it at first. I was looking for an escape, and it paints life as it really is. Antonia goes through so many hardships, that I wonder if it wasn't me if I would have given up long ago. But yet she never complains, and finds the strength to better her life. I think the most of what I took away from our discussion the other night about the book, is that even when things aren't going your way, and you can find so many reasons to wallow in pitty about your life, to just get up and go to work!

For those of you who buy diapers....

This is for any of you who buy diapers, and believe me I BUY diapers! I don't want to count the number that we go through in a day! But I found a deal (although it might only be a deal for one time, but I guess one time is better than nothing, right?). I bought diapers this last time at diapers.com. If your order is $50 or more you get free shipping, and if you're a first time customer you get $3 off, and enter code PTG1 (that I got from the partenting magazine) you get $10 off your first order. With all these discounts (even though they are only for 1st orders) I got the diapers that I usally get at Sam's Club or Costco for $3 less AND they were delivered to my house within less than a week! Now I know that $3 isn't much but the delivery to my house is a BIG Deal right now!

Ahhhh.....Sundays!

Yesterday we reached a huge milestone for our family. Or at least Parker reached it. He is now officially 18 months and entering the nursery life during church. It was so nice to just have Abby to take care of for the 2 hours of church. And luckily Parker is liking nursery so far.

We got this cute little outfit from a friend when he was born - and he looks like such a little man. Don't you think? We went to the Timpanogos Park in Provo Canyon to take his picture. I had never been there before but it really nice. You should go if you live nearby. The only thing I think is missing is a kids playground, but it is very pretty.

Anyways, HURRAY for Nursery!

The PRINCESS has DECLARED!

So today I asked Nate and Emma to clean up their toys in the living room. And Emma said, (and this is a quote), "I delcare that we no longer have to clean up our toys." I'm not sure where she learned about the word DECLARE, but I think the Princess has spoken. Now she can learn that the Queen (that's me) can always over-rule what ever the Princess has declared. Especially when it comes to our living room. Enjoy the picture of our little PRINCESS

Real Life put into song....

We found this little "ditty", and LOVED it. How true it is that even though our kids can drive our day/nights crazy, they are still our greatest JOYS! ENJOY!

Kids say the funninest things

This little moment today made me laugh, and so I thought I'd share. It was Nate's VIP Day today in his kindergarten class. Our whole family went and we told things about Nate to his class. At the end the class could ask questions to Nate when he called on them. He had answered all the usual questions - "What's your favorite color?" "What's your favorite food?" "What do you like to play with?" And then the last girl asked him what his favorite insect was? And Nate got a puzzled look on his face and said, "Hum.....that's a tricky one." It was the funniest thing! But then we all know that Nate usually says funny things. LOVE YOU NATE!

1,000+ Miles in Two Days!

What an exciting 2 days. We left Orem on Friday Morning about 9:30 am and headed south. Our first event of the trip was and close one at the last stop light out of Spanish Fork. I was leading and figured I should stop so as to not leave everyone else at the stop light. In the end Dustin just about rear ended me and ran the light anyway. I must have had the music up way to loud, because I missed the squeeling tires! We stopped in Green River just long enough to Dad and Dusting to eat the heart out of a watermelon, and I still don't like watermelon. They also got a cantelope to eat for breakfast the next morning. Next was Moab, were we stopped for lunch. It also marked the end of the trail as we knew it. From there on out we were kind of unfamiliar with the route. As we headed into Colorado, we passed through a number of little town that I couldn't even pronounce the names, so forget that I'd even remember them. Our last stop, for driving direction clarification, decided that I had enough gas to get to another town. When we got there it was just an intersection! NO GAS! I'd already hit empty and the gas light was on and the sign said another 22 miles to the next town. A quick addition of the miles came out to 195 miles on this tank of gas. I'd gotten 180 before, so I was hoping for a lot of down hill for the last bit. Luckily I made it all the way to Ridgeline, Co, with 1/2 a gallon left!

The drive between Ridgeline and Durango was some of the most breathtaking. We climbing, it seemed, almost straigt up the mountains. S-turns for what seemed like forever, and the leaves were turning, against blue sky and rugged mountains. It's really a shame I don't have any pictures to show for it. Dad isn't one for stopping much.

We pulled into Durango about 6 pm, to find th place completely booked up. No room at the Inn! So, we kept on keeping on and headed into the sunset towards Cortez. We passed through a little place called Mancos, about half an hour out of Durango, and stopped there.

The accompanying pictures document the second day of our trip a little better, visiting four corner and Mexican Hat before finding ourselfs following a great road into Hite, and the north end of Lake Powell. We stopped in Hanksville for Gas, and decided that Lunch @ Moms Cafe sounded better than lunch @ Stan's. About 20 minutes out of Hanksville we stopped to suit up for wet weather, and got rained on from there to Salina.

From Salina to home was just a constant drizzle, but much more bearable than the first leg of the rain. At this point I think some Rain Gear would be a wise investment.

It was a great time. I really want to go back and get some good picture of the pass, and take Nate to ride the Train in Durango.
